Our summer rainy season is one of the most magical times of year at Rune! Time your visit just right and you may find the end of the rainbow.
Every evening, we are privileged to watch the light change over the beautiful Mustang Mountains.

Believe it or not, snow in southeastern Arizona isn’t unheard of! We are at around 5,000 feet altitude and average 10 degrees cooler than Tucson and 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Photo by Jenelle Bonifield.
Our labels feature unique art that changes with each vintage. Each wine has its own characters and storyline, and the saga plays out on our bottles over the years. We now have almost 100 unique pieces of label art!
Rune is 100% off the grid. We draw our power from a solar system, and our water from a well. Being off-grid poses unique challenges, but we are proud to be sustainable and low-impact!
One of the keys to Arizona's terroir is the monsoon. Short and sometimes violent, they quench the desert's thirst and provide a much needed break from the heat.
Rune is the culmination of the lifelong dream of our winemaker James Callahan. In its early days, Rune had nothing but James’s home base - a tent! - as he began work on the property.
Rune’s “doors” opened in April 2015. Back then, all James had was a canopy, a makeshift bar, and his first vintage of wine that he hoped would sell.
As Rune expanded, it was time for a building. A concrete foundation was poured and the next step was to build our now iconic quonset hut.
As the build out of our quonset hut slowly progressed, it became a makeshift tasting room during inclement weather. Temporary paper walls unexpectedly became a customer favorite as we allowed guests to leave their mark!
After his tent days were over, James’s did a brief stint in a Breaking Bad style RV before moving into a vintage Airstream that he restored himself. It was the perfect little home while he built Rune from the ground up. Although he no longer calls it home, it has become a classic part of the Rune scenery. Photo by Jenelle Bonifield.
