Chardonnay grapes are rare in Arizona - and I love Chardonnay. A problem solved by sourcing fruit from our neighbor to the west. The Sierra Madre Vineyard is one of the coldest sites for Chardonnay in the state, making this wine unique amongst the majority of its California brethren.
This Chardonnay was barrel fermented with a mixture of native and commercial yeasts. The wine saw 38% new French oak, with the remainder in neutral French oak barrels. Aged sur lie for 15 months and bottled promptly afterwards.
